Pirates vs. Reds
Alright well the Pirate had a rare spring bad game today. They got trounced by the Reds 6-0, and only collected 2 hits. Those hits came off the bats of Nate McLouth and Craig Monroe. Ian Snell started the game and did not look good. He pitched 4.1 innings, surrendering 6 earned runs on 9 hits and walking 2. Snell looked great through the World Baseball Classic, which made the Pirates staff look a lot better, but outings like today’s make me nervous. Who knows what caused it, I just hope he returns to WBC form by April, although it’s unlikely. It was more likely a fluke in the WBC then being a fluke today. He’s just not that great of a pitcher anymore, but he does have the arm to rebound and become a solid starter for the Pirates. Anyways, the offense for the Reds was provided by Johnny Gomes, Paul Janish (who shares a birthday with me), Darnell McDonald, and Danny Richar. Aaron Harang pitched a gem, going 6 shut-out innings while striking out 4. Good signs for you Reds fans out there. They look like they can exceed expectations and compete this year, well atleast they have a better shot than the Pirates.
Good luck with your draft. The Rays were recent victims of the Reds too. I think we may have to watch out for them…you guys more than us! And thanks for visiting my blog!
