Pirates Talking Trades With Twins
Well Neil Huntington is certainly not done dealing this year, and he very well should not be. The recent news involves the Minnesota Twins. The Twins seem to be interested in Freddy Sanchez, John Grabow, and Matt Capps. Personally I didn’t even think Matt Capps was on the market, but I guess no player is untouchable for the Pirates. Capps is young and still has a ceiling to reach. Here’s a link to the Twins top 20 prospects this year:
One Twins blog I read said the Twins are willing to trade Alexei Casilla, a 25 year old speedy middle infielder. Casilla would be a fantastic addition for the Pirates and could be in Pittsburgh immediately. If he were to reach his potential he could definitely be an all-star shortstop or second baseman someday. If the Pirates could pull a trade Sanchez for Casilla I would be ecstatic. Here are some other links to the trade rumors:
This should be interesting. I am doubting a deal will go down very soon, but I definitely expect something to happen between these teams before the deadline.
It doesn’t sound like the two sides are very close to a deal, and I guess I would be surprised if the Twins actually pulled the trigger. I think Casilla would definitely benefit from a change in scenery. He obviously has a lot of potential, and I would be sad to see him go, but it sounds like Gardy has lost patience with him and it’s unlikely he’ll get another shot here. The next couple of days will be very interesting, at any rate.-Erinhttp://plunking-gomez.mlblogs.com
